Description
The Plant Growth Collaborative Research Platform at the University of Queensland is proud to host guided tours of the Plant Futures Facility during Trop Ag.
With a UQ investment of $65 million, this world-class facility was officially handed over to the Plant Growth Collaborative Research Platform at the end of 2024. Today, it stands as the most advanced plant growth infrastructure in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Plant Futures Facility is designed to develop sustainable, adaptable, and secure systems for food, fibre, and fuel production. What sets it apart is its beautiful design, scale and precision. Its controlled growth environments allow researchers to simulate Queensland’s climates, as well as temperate and tropical conditions, exceeding international standards for both research and commercial practice. Important PC2 Protocols
As the facility is certified PC2 (Physical Containment Level 2), we ask all visitors to observe the following requirements during the tour:
• Follow all PC2 regulations and instructions provided by your host.
• On the day of your visit, please do not visit other plant growth or agricultural areas (including home gardens) prior to the tour.
• Wear closed-in, non-porous footwear to ensure strict biosecurity standards are maintained.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Plant Futures Facility and sharing how UQ is shaping the future of agriculture.
